This is my final week documenting the garden. It has been little ways more than a week since my last post... As you can tell most things are dead. It was hot and I didn't water it and I even took out the cucumber plant cause it turned yellow and shriveled up. I am a terrible gardener and I know that. I do not plan on gardening again anytime soon because I know I will kill it just like this one. It was fun while it lasted but I know I can't handle it. Although it is not completely dead yet I do not plan on trying to keep these plants alive anymore.
It has been a bit more than a week and I have sort of just given up on taking the weeds out but am still taking out the mushrooms. I am getting worse at taking care of my garden and literally forgot to water it all week. I am afraid that the cucumber plant is dying, it's barely green. A lot of the leaves from all of the plants are really getting eaten. There are also lots of leaves turning yellow and brown. I am killing my garden.
I didn't realize how blurry this picture was until I uploaded it to my computer, but as you can see there are two huge mushrooms on the bottom right corner. They were really gross and they grow ridiculously fast. There are also many weeds as usual. I cleared out the mushrooms and all of the weeds. The soil seemed a bit dry so I watered pretty much the whole thing. I realized after that it will probably grow more weeds from that, we'll see. Something has been eating at my leaves. I have seen some roly-polies around so that might be it. These are the mushrooms I had to take out. They are disgusting and I don't like touching them. I don't want them to grow in my garden but I don't think there is anything I can do about it. When I pulled one out today it seemed like all of the roly-pollies were where the stem of the mushroom was and when I pulled it out they all went rushing down into the dirt, it was really gross. ProgressThis is a leaf on the strawberry plant that I thought looked really cool. It seemed different from the rest of the strawberry leaves. I was thinking that It might be where one of the strawberries grows from. This is the cucumber and it has this pretty thing going on. It also has some yellow flowers on it. The stem is really fuzzy and kind of prickly and the spiral thing is looking pretty fuzzy too. The strawberry looks like it may start growing soon. It is very red although I thought they grew white then changed red. We'll see how it grows.
This is week 2 before I took all of the weeds out. Everything is looking a bit droopy because I didn't water it very good this week. Week 2 after I took out all of the weeds. ProgressThis week I didn't do a very good job watering which especially wasn't good because it was so hot this week. So the strawberry is not looking too good. The green beans are looking alright. Not too many of them have sprouted but the ones that have, have grown a lot within the past two weeks.
Over this past week some weeds have grown back and some mushrooms have grown. I cleared out the mushrooms and took care of the weeds. ProgressThe strawberry 2 has a little one growing and it has turned from green to red this past week. The green beans have sprouted like crazy. I only planted them by seed last week and a lot of them are up and looking good. Next week when more of them have sprouted I am going to take every other one out to give them more room to grow.
I went to HomeDepot and got already grown strawberry, cucumber and tomato plants and green bean seeds. As you can see, this box garden is filled with weeds. Somehow the weeds grew through the weed cloth so I am going to have to deal with all of the weeds. I took out most of the weeds and planted everything. Cucumber Burpless Hybrid. Strawberry Quinault. 'Yellow Pear' Tomato Inderteminate.
