How was the work you did significant or meaningful to your workplace?
I am helping start the ambassador program for high school students. This is a much needed program for their Finance Park because these students will represent Junior Achievement. I also helped recruit students to be a part an ambassador as well as myself. I am also helping JA connect with High Tech High which can be a very beneficial connection for both Junior Achievement and High Tech.
How did your project(s) go from an idea or inspiration to a final product? Explain the processes from the initial idea to the final product and the skills that you used and developed.
I don't really have a final product for this month anymore because the Sea World trip is not an info-session anymore and it is not taking place until the end of February. A couple skills that goes along with that is flexibility and understanding; changes happen and most are usually out of your control and you just have to adjust. The cool thing is that I will get to see where my hard work goes because I am continuing with JA in the ambassador program which is what I have been initially working on. Anyway, I guess my project changed into more of experiencing the different opportunities and programs that JA has to offer. I got to be a volunteer at JA Biztown which was a wonderful experience seeing how much the 5th graders can learn from this experience.
I also got to teach an in-class lesson to first graders at Lindbergh Schweitzer Elementary School. I got to teach the first lesson of the overall lesson called "Our Families". It's about how being part of a community, family, and neighborhood is important. How everyone has a job and that people help each other which is what makes it a nice place to live. I am going back there to teach another lesson 2 tomorrow about wants and needs.
I also got to experience a reverse job shadow which is the opposite of a regular job shadow. Instead of going to someones job site and seeing what they do, I went to a school to see where they had a nutritionist visit and give a presentation of what she does as a nutritionist to middle schoolers. Knowing about these different programs and being able to actually experience them is going to be really helpful when I am an ambassador to be able to talk about my experiences and have more knowledge about JA.
